If you care about spreading happiness and sharing it with others, I adore your intention you are on the right path.

However, there is no one set way of spreading happiness as everyone is different in their approach to life. So, this I would say is beyond your control. What is in control for you though is to keep yourself highly energized and your happiness will overflow to people around you.

When we give a measurable item like money or food, we can have control over how much we give and how much we keep for ourselves. When it comes to making others happy, we should be conscious of how much time and effort we put in making this happen. You should make sure that you never sacrifice your own needs to a level where you lose out on your energy.

Here are a few ideas of things to do to spread happiness

E
ngage in activities with those you care about. Like playing a good old board game, watching movies, looking through old photos, or even doing chores. Jointly carried out activities and experiences bring a lot of happiness as they cause the brain to release a chemical called dopamine that influences your mood and makes you feel goodAnd to give a helping hand always goes a long way in building trust and mutual respect. As a benefit, this also increases your inner light.

Jointly carried out outdoor sport is a great idea too to release stress and increase happiness in as it refreshes you physically as more oxygen enters your system and the feel-good dopamine is released.

Another great activity is cooking together which brings family members or friends closer and works brilliantly with kids too. If you aren’t an expert baker, don’t fret. Find yourself an easy recipe with only few ingredients and try to bake something together. Even a store-bought brownie mix will do the job.

In the day and age of constant smart phone distraction, the greatest thing you can do for a loved one – or anyone, really – is to listen, be in the moment, give your undivided attention, be a true friend. Being an active listener to your near and dear means so much more these days – it is almost extraordinary. It increases the bond you have and makes you a go-to kind of friend.

If going on a vacation together is an option: great. Vacations have time and again proven to be one of the best stress busters. If vacation is not an option, do a staycation. If you live in or close-by a seaside location, a carefree day on the beach or by the pool will bring so much joy. If your call a metropolis your home, why not explore your own city in new ways while staying at a hotel? You live in the middle of nowhere and either of this is the case for you? Just pack your picnic blanket, some finger food and find yourself a nearby patch of green. Food, laughter, sunshine and fresh air enjoyed together can hardly be beaten when it comes to spreading happiness.

Ever thought of doing a pottery class, a language course, or learning yoga? Offer your happiness-needing friend to join a class together. Learning is motivational. It develops confidence in even our subconscious levels, and means time well-spent together.

These are just a few ways I can think of to bring happiness to others. I look forward to reading some of yours in the comments below.
